Quarantine

And so begins the final chapter of this journey...
In the beginning of the game, you run into Elk in Fort Ouph, and seems a bit spastic. He can't find Mia anywhere. BlackRose suggests that he joins their party again since he might have a better chance running into Mia that way (uhg, couldn't think of that sooner, huh?!). Elk agrees. Rejoice! Elk is a useable party member once more!
A bit into the game, Elk won't answer your Flash Mail anymore. Well, you have to continue on to the next dungeon anyway.
As you reach the bottom, you run into Elk and... Mia?
"Elk... who am I?"
"You're Mia, of course!"
"It's true... I only exist in 'The World'... My only memory is when I am in 'The World'..."
And so begins the transformation... of Macha.
"Elk... I'm sorry."
As Macha sings her way into the arena, Elk shout's out Mia's name. He is forced out of the area, and then begins the battle with the sixth Phase.
After the fight, a stray stone from Macha's defeat floats alone in the air, and turns into Mia. She floats down slowly into Kite's arms.
Elk manages to gate back into the area, and is shocked to see what happened to Mia. He runs and trips on his way to aid his best friend. Try as he might, his healing spells backfired on Mia.
"Mia... What have you done to Mia?!"
Mia slowly opens her eyes and turns to Elk. She thanks him... and then rolls over. Mia begins to fade away in light. Elk looks up at the floating light, and for the last time, calls out Mia's name.
He gets up and begins to walk away. Kite tries to explain.
"Just leave me alone!"
Then he gates out.
At the end of the game, before the final battle with Corbenik, everyone - all the friends and allies Kite has made - groups up for their final battle plan. As they speak, a quick scene shows Elk hiding in the shadows of Lia Fail, watching as everyone joins together.
Corbenik is finally taken down by Kite and his party; but apparently Morganna isn't too happy with this. With one final blow, she performs Drain Heart on everybody. Everyone is taken down one by one, but Kite desperately tries to avoid the attack. He trips and falls, about to be hit, but right before then, Elk jumps in to take the blow.
"I'm sorry, I was only thinking about myself..."
Elk apologizes for how he acted towards Kite. He falls back, and the Drain Heart takes effect...

Finally, "The World" is saved... The coma victims have awakened, the virus is gone, and now Aura can finally do her duty as the Ultamite AI. Elk even asks you to join a new group he's created, the "Aromatic Grass Society".

But there's still no Mia.

Kite and Elk get an e-mail from Aura, claiming there is a being in a dungeon trying to stop the growth of Aura and "The World". Natrually, Kite and Elk agree to go.
As they enter the dungeon, they are greeted by... Maha? She bows, turns, then dissapears.
"Mia? Did you see that? That was Mia!"
They continue through the dungeon. Later on, Maha appears again. Elk asks if she really is Mia. The mute cat moves her lips, then dissapears again.
Once they reach the final room of the dungeon, Maha appears and summons a Guardian. After the Guardian is defeated, Maha is trapped inside of it, and the Guardian turns into a new monster.
Defeated again, Maha dissapears in a bright flash of light... and Mia replaces the spot. As she floats down on her feet, Elk and Kite run up to her.
"Oh Mia! I'm so happy you're back!"
Mia happily greets Elk. She turns towards Kite, staring at his arm.
"Well that's a unique bracelet! Can I take a look?"
Elk and Kite look a bit shocked.
"Mia, you're... you're memories..."
Kite goes along with Mia, saying exactly what he had said before.
Elk seems really dissapointed, now that some of Mia's memories are gone. Kite says it's no worry, because he'll be with her, and that he can help her remember. Elk brightens up again.
"Hmm, that's right! I'm always going to be with Mia, and I'm going to help you remember things."
He turns towards Kite with a big smile.
"Hey, don't forget to call us next time you play 'The World'. Mia and I, we'll be waiting! Don't forget!"
The two walk off. As Mia catches up with Elk, he grabs her hand, and the two gate out...
