You may be wondering, what exactly is .hack//UdeDen?

To start things off, .hack as a whole tells the different stories of the players in the hugely popular MMORPG (Massive Multi Online Role Playing Game), "The World". It is a unique and fun place to be, but it's not exactly your ordinary online game. There's AIs that defy and twist the game with their own rules, people falling comatose, and a virus breaks the barries between reality and fantasy, causing chaos to not only the players of the game, but to those in the real world as well.

That's all fun and good, but .hack//UdeDen takes place four years after all the fun-filled-havok-wreaking takes place.
Where all the other parts to .hack were usually serious and lack in the comedy department, UdeDen makes up for that by having cute, chibi-like characters and plenty of laughs. This style fits UdeDen perfect, for it doesn't feature a Person vs Self plot or the world (literally or not) getting destroyed by a virus, but instead has a bunch of kids running around just trying to have fun.

To sum it in a nutshell, .hack//UdeDen features twins Shugo and Rena who have won the character avatars to the legendary Dot Hackers Kite and BlackRose. They go off to fight, monster comes, Shugo dies, gets bracelet, yadda yadda yadda, they make friends, y'know, the typical stuff. All along they think the bracelet was part of an NPC sub-event, but when they meet Zephie, a "Wandering AI", they begin to learn otherwise...

UdeDen started off as a manga, but apparently it got caught with the trend that most mangas have an anime counterpart as well. Though, for UdeDen, it probably turned out for the worst, for the manga is far, FAR better than the anime. The manga ties in with the stories of the other parts of .hack (even as far back as AI Buster), and the anime... Let's just say its got its own thing going on.

This part of the .hack series also seems to be the only one with several different names. There's the official Japanese title .hack//Tasogare no Udewa Densetsu, the shortened .hack//UdeDen, the English title .hack//Legend of the Twilight (Bracelet), and the fan-given .hack//Dusk.
